empowering young women to make healthy choices

YWCA Tri-County Area offers two twelve week after school programs for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls. The program is held in area middle schools. In partnership with several local agencies, the YWCA presents a topic each week relating to issues facing today’s girls as they move through their secondary school years.
The interactive sessions touch on fitness, nutrition, girls bullying girls, stress management, healthy relationships, sexual harassment, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, STDs, and self-esteem. Refreshments, fun activities, and the opportunity for discussion on sensitive issues in a non-judgmental environment are all part of each week’s meeting.
